Make Digital Count
Last updated: 6 November 2026
This notice explains how Make Digital Count uses information about people at the businesses we contact about our services. If you've received an email from us, this is how we found your details, what we do with them, and how to stop hearing from us.
Make Digital Count helps businesses get more enquiries and turn more of them into work. We are the controller of the information described here.
We contact UK businesses that we think could benefit from our services. We only contact businesses, about business matters. We don't send you consumer offers.
We don't use sensitive information, such as health or political views, and we don't collect your home address or personal phone number.
All of it comes from publicly available business sources:
We use this information to contact relevant businesses about our services: business development and direct marketing to businesses.
Where this involves personal information, such as your name or a named business email address, our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Our legitimate interest is growing our business by offering a relevant service to businesses that are likely to benefit from it. We have assessed this, and we keep the impact on you low:
We don't sell your information. We share it only as far as we need to run our outreach, with these types of provider:
Some of these providers act only on our instructions. Others may also use information under their own terms. For example, our email-sending platform, Instantly, keeps records of sending and engagement, such as deliveries and replies, and its terms allow it to use these, in pseudonymised or aggregated form, to provide targeting, filtering and suppression features to its other customers. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Some of our providers are based, or process information, outside the UK. According to their published information, these include providers in the United States and an email-verification provider in New Zealand.
Our email-sending platform's terms include the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We are still confirming the safeguards that apply to some of our other providers. You can ask for the current position at [email protected].
These periods apply to the records we keep. Providers may keep copies, such as logs and backups, for periods set by their own terms.
You can object to direct marketing at any time, and we will stop. To opt out:
Replying to our email stops the rest of that email sequence, and using the link marks you as unsubscribed from it straight away. We check replies and unsubscribes daily and add opt-outs to our do-not-contact list, normally within a day, though this can take longer if our system is offline. If we can't tell from a reply whether you want to opt out, a person checks it, and we won't add your address to any new outreach in the meantime. If you email us directly, we add you by hand. Once you've opted out, we won't email you again.
You also have the right to:
To make a request, email [email protected]. We'll reply within one month. We don't make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first, and we'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator: www.ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or call 0303 123 1113.
We may update this notice. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
